Raising Your Spirited Child

Bring Your Child Session at SupperWorks!

What? Bring the little ones out to experience the fun in our kitchen! At our 'Bring Your Child' Sessions, the kids are by your side helping to scoop, mix and assemble your meals. Enjoy coffee, juice and nut-free treats while you prepare your meals together. The parents say their kids just love eating the dishes they made themselves here at SupperWorks. It will take a about an hour to make 6 full sized meals. Each meal serves 4-6 people, and can be split into 12 meals that serve 2-3 people.

FMX Motocross World Tour
What? London, ON will showcase twelve top international pros from the FMX and BMX pro circuit in the 2008 Freestyle Motocross World Tour. The FMX World Tour is an Extreme Sport action competition that was formed to tour Canada, USA, Mexico and select European countries. Its roots and history have begun in the 1990’s, pressuring the athletes to go bigger and higher every year. Helping Children with Special Needs - a free clinic in Kitchener
When? Saturday, November 29 from 10 am to 4pm
What? Several Practitioners of the Anat Baniel Method for Children will be offering their services. We will be providing a FREE sample of the work for families to experience what this method can do for their child. Priority will go to those who have not yet had a chance to try the work. The Anat Baniel Method for children is based on the work of Moshe Feldenkrais. It is a learning modality using movement, touch, and language to access the brain. This clinic is for kids from birth to 18 years who have any special issues. We work with children who have Cerebral Palsy; developmental motor, speech, or learning delays; scoliosis; mild to severe conditions of autism; clumsiness or coordination problems; and undiagnosed conditions.

Dinosaurs Alive!
When? July 1, 2008 - January 11, 2009
What? Entertaining and educational, this 6000 square foot exhibition featuring life-sized animatronic, moving and roaring dinosaurs takes visitors into prehistoric times! After touring through the foliage and faux dino-scenery, the overall experience and aura is creating with skeletons, fossil displays and dig sites that demonstrate how bones are found and excavated. To complement the visuals, bones, fossils and life-sized recreations, woven throughout the remaining portion of the exhibit are a series of multimedia and static stations that add depth, communication and interpretation that serve to educate visitors on the raw facts of dinosaurs, their life and times and help complete the overall experience of the Mesozoic period.

Walk-In Counselling Clinic
What? The Walk-In Counselling Clinic serves two purposes: 1) as the “access” or intake point for most of our counselling services, and 2) at the client’s request, to provide a one and half hour single session to determine the nature of the problem and to leave with a plan to address the issue(s). Referral Process: No referral process is required for our Walk-In Counselling Clinic. Simply come to our office on Thursdays during our Walk-In Counselling Clinic hours. We endeavour to have clients seen as quickly as possible, and work on a first-come, first-served basis. If, however, a large influx of individuals come in late in the day we may have to ask people to return the following week. Wait times also vary according to the arrivals of clients.

Learning About Children's Communication Skills
What? The Cognitive Development Lab at the University of Waterloo is currently recruiting children and parents who are interested in taking part in a study that looks at how well preschoolers (ages 3 to 4 yrs) understand statements from others. The study takes about 45 minutes and will take place in our lab located at the University of Waterloo.
