Shimano Take a Kid Fishing Day
When? Saturday, May 8, 2010, 8:30am - 4pm
What? Junior anglers can learn from the pros at the Shimano Take a Kid Fishing Day at Belwood Lake Conservation Area near Fergus on Saturday, May 8. There will be two half-day sessions, with space for 120 people in each. The morning session will go from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with the afternoon session running from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids in both sessions can join in the free barbecue lunch from noon to 1 p.m. The day is designed to get new anglers, between 8 and 14, involved in fishing and help them improve their skills. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. The children will take lessons and then try their new skills at the stocked pond in the conservation area. They’ll learn how to cast, rig lures, tie flies, identify various fish species and their habitats and learn how to catch more fish. Archery lessons are also available. Event sponsors are the GRCA, Shimano, Bass Pro Shops, Rapala, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters TackleShare, Friends of the Grand River, Berkley, Wellington County Stewardship Council, KWC Bassmasters, Mitten, GayLea, Storm Lures and the Canadian Bass Anglers Federation.
How much? The event is free for registered participants, although they will have to pay park entry fees, which are $2.50 for children and $4.50 for adults.

Seminar: Enhance Your Fertility with Yoga and Aromatherapy

What? Reframe your conceptions about conception. Yoga and aromatherapy enhance your fertility and support your journey towards creating a new life. In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore postures that provide an antidote to the physical impacts of stress. Kerri Schnarr, owner of svasukha yoga studio and certified aroma therapist, will lead you through a sequence of postures and encourage you to be present in the moment. Some of the benefits of yoga and aromatherapy include: improved respiration, increased blood flow to the reproductive organs and deep, active relaxation. A custom aromatherapy essential oil blend will be used to enhance your experience in the studio. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. Wear comfortable and non-binding clothing for practice. Prenatal Yoga

Cambridge Libraries
What? Each season at the library there is a new session of great programs for children of all ages. Our free, drop in programs include:
    Totstime: For children 2 years and younger with an adult caregiver. A fast-paced half hour of songs, rhymes and interactive activities.
    Story Stars: For 3 to 5 year olds. A half hour program filled with exciting stories, rhymes, games and other great activities.
    Storytime: For children of all ages. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult. A half hour program featuring music, stories, rhymes and activities.
    Family Storytime: The entire family is welcome. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult. An active half hour of stories, rhymes, games and music.
    Super Saturdays: Children of all ages are welcome. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult. Seasonal fun, including crafts, games and activities, on select Saturdays throughout the year.
    P.D. Day Activities: For children of all ages. Special drop-in programs are planned on many school closing days
Some drop-in programs require tickets to be picked up immediately prior to the program (first come, first served). Registered programs are designed to meet the developmental needs of children from birth to 12 years and require pre-registration. Registered programs require the kids to have a Cambridge Library card.

We invite all parents of children aged 18 - 24 months, 5 - 6 years or 7 - 8 years who live in or near the Kitchener-Waterloo area to come for a one-time visit to the Centre to take part in one of our ongoing studies. Even if your child does not fall into one of these age ranges we would love to hear from you, as the centre maintains a list of parents who are interested in participating in our studies. Once a new study begins, we contact parents with children in the age range of the study. At that time, we explain the study in detail and, if you are interested, a convenient time for your visit is arranged. We welcome visits on weekdays or weekends! Kindermusik Family Time
When? Two 5-week sessions on Tuesdays beginning May 25th. Session #1: from 5:30pm to 6:15pm; Session #2: 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm.
What? Keep your family ‘in tune’ by enrolling in Family Time! We are offering a five week Family Time session in June and another five week session in July! Family Time is unique in that families can bring multiple children (ages 0-7) so that the whole family can enjoy a class together. Of course, it is also available for families with one child. Friday After School Kids Pottery Classes
