Birtch Farms
www.birtchfarms.com
Birtch Farms is a great family destination. From mid September until the end of October we offer many fun fall activities such as wagon rides, scarecrow making, apple and pumpkin picking, corn maze and children's playground.
We host a number of festivals during the fall such as Apple Festival, Pumpkin Festival, and Food and Wine Festival. Our wagon ride called the Apple Tale Trail, takes us around the orchard, with scenes depicting apple, pumpkin and farm stories and legends. Fresh baking such as homemade apple pies, apple fritters, muffins and cookies are a highlight of the fall season. Picking apples and pumpkins with your children is a very rewarding experience and also an opportunity to celebrate local food and how it's grown.

The Art Studios
www.theartstudios.com
The Art Studios in Waterloo is a perfect place for families with kids all ages to come and relax, have
some fun with paints and brushes, and create very special personal
items. Some are so practical you might use them every day, others will
be treasured as keepsakes, and perhaps a few will be given away to warm someone’s heart.
Ceramic painting is easy. There isn’t much that can go wrong. Our
friendly staff will walk you through the steps of creating one-of-a-kind
masterpieces, and we provide the paints, necessary brushes and tools. Our selection includes a wide variety of items from mugs and plates to
picture frames and money banks, or from home-decor to special, seasonal pieces. The creative process can take anywhere from a few minutes, to a couple of hours, or even a few days – that’s why we have an ‘on-hold’ shelf, where you can keep your pieces until your next visit. The items are fully glazed—which means that they are food safe, and
dishwasher- and microwave-friendly.

Ireland House at Oakridge Farm
www.museumsofburlington.com
Built between 1835-1837 Ireland House was the home of Joseph Ireland, one of Burlington's earliest settlers. He emigrated from Bowes, Yorkshire, England in 1819 at the age of 27 and petitioned for land at Oakridge Farm.
Ireland House was occupied by Joseph and his descendants up until 1985. In 1987, the City of Burlington purchased the property from the estate of Lucie Marie Ireland Bush.
The homestead has been restored to illustrate 3 distinct time periods: 1850s, 1890s and 1920s, representing the generations of Irelands who lived in the house. Ninety percent of the furnishings are original to the Ireland family thanks to a generous donation by Helen Ireland Caldwell, Marie's first cousin. Restorations of the house have reclaimed missing elements of former times. The property consists of 3.68 acres of woodland, gardens, potting shed, cottage/drive shed, and picnic areas. Tours of the property, living historical demonstrations, special events and educational programs are offered at Ireland House Museum.
