Tim Horton’s Community Litter Clean Up at Victoria Park

What? Community members can join a city-run clean-up at Victoria Park. Enjoy refreshments, entertainment and enter to win prizes and gift certificates from Tim Hortons! This year prizes include Tim Hortons water bottles, $5 Tims gift cards and three mountain bikes! Pre-registration is not required. The event will take place rain or shine.

Procession of the Species Parade
When? Saturday, April 24, 2010 starting at 12pm
What? Procession of the Species is a community arts-based Earth Day celebration where people flood the street to flaunt their favourite species or natural element whether it is flora, fauna or fungi, the sky is just the beginning! Procession is not just about the parade it is about bringing the community together the weeks before hand with over 35 FREE workshops to help prepare us as well as educate us. Workshops in areas of dance, drama, costume design, music and environmental lectures. Check out their website to register.You do not have to be in the parade to go to the workshops nor do you have to go to the workshops to be in the parade. Rain or Shine! If in the parade plan to be there for 11:30am for the drum circle. We ask that you register for statistics and so we can space out the musical groups.

KNAP Earth Day Celebration

What? This family celebration includes building a KNAP Bird Box (available to the first 100 families), Kids KNAP Bird Silhouettes, Planting a tree, nature walks and displays. Featuring the Canadian Raptor Conservancy with live birds of prey shows at 1, 2 & 3 pm.

Guelph Rotary Forest Earth Day
When? Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 9 am to 2pm
What? Residents of Guelph and area will develop a 40-acre forest at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area. Although the focus of the events is planting trees, there 's lots more going on: creepy creature shows, earth day crafts, music and vendor tents. A limited number of shovels will be provided so planters are encouraged to bring their own. Groups are encouraged to participate. Challenge your co-workers, your neighbours, your class and your family. There is no charge for admission and there will be free refreshments, Visitors can bring their own mugs or purchase a Rotary Forest souvenir mug for $2.Parking will be available at the Lakeside Church on Conservation Road. Guelph Transit busses will provide shuttle service from the parking lot to the Earth Day Event site. There will also be free shuttle buses leaving from St. George Square in downtown Guelph every 30 minutes. The new forest will eventually be home to 65,000 trees.
