Canada Day Strawberry Festival

What?
Fun for the WHOLE FAMILY, with lots of GOOD FOOD! Live Entertainment includes: Antique cars and tractors, Games, Goat Walk, Farm Animals. Canada's Birthday kicks off at 9 a.m. with Downey's serving scrumptious pancakes topped with Downey's own strawberries for only $6 per person. Pick your own strawberries or ready picked berries will be available on the grounds.

Family Mini Golf
When? Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 1 - 5pm
What?
Bring your family and/or friends to enjoy a fun and exciting afternoon of 18 hole mini golf at the Palmerston Legion on Canada Day. 9 holes will be in the auditorium and the other 9 will be in the Legion parking lot (weather permitting). To eliminate waiting time, register your group for a tee off time. Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day
When? July 1 from 8am to 11pm
What?
Canada Day is a widely recognized holiday to celebrate our country's birthday. This year Canada is turning 142, so why not come out to Cambridge to see one of the largest Canada Day celebrations in all of Ontario to show your love and support to the country. The day of events will commence as follows:
From 8 am - Noon is the 52nd Annual Fishing Carp Derby for children ages 2 - 16. From 2 pm - 6 pm is the 4th annual Children's Activity Centre which includes a face painting area, a themed crafts area, a painting/colouring area, an environmental scavenger hunt with prizes, a bubble play area and a games area featuring mini putt stations, bean bag toss games, football throw games, croquet and hula hoops. We have also added some new children's events so come out and bring your little ones. From 1 pm - 3 pm is the 35th annual Canada Day parade that starts on the corner of King Street and Bishop and goes through Riverside Park for a distance of 2.25km.
At 4 pm Mayor Doug Craig will be at the park distributing Canada Day birthday cake for the first 1500 people to the event. This is a new feature this year. From 4 pm - 10 pm is the 3rd annual live music evening in the park which will feature local musicians before the fireworks. At dusk will be the 35th annual fireworks concluding the evening with a bang.
How much? Donations of $1.00 or $2.00 are encouraged to maintain the quality of this event.

Come celebrate Canada Day at Woodside National Historic Site of Canada, the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King. Woodside will be hosting a Citizenship Ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The Citizenship Ceremony at Woodside is one of the ways that Parks Canada is engaging Canadians in their heritage with high quality services and special events. At 2:30 p.m., you will have the opportunity to witness new Canadians becoming citizens and to recite the Oath of Citizenship. After the ceremony, stay for cake! Did you know that Mackenzie King was the first citizen of Canada? Visit the house where he grew up, chat with knowledgeable interpreters and find out more about our 10th Prime Minister and his life as a boy in 1891.

Mapleton's 10th Anniversary Canada Day Celebration

Come out to Drayton on July 1st for a day of events. Mapleton's 10th Anniversary!!! From Duck Races, hockey shoot-outs, beer gardens and a Fast-Ball game between the NEW ZEALAND BLACK SOX and SOUTH PERTH ALL STARS for $5. Canada Day at McCrae House
When? Festivities begin on July 1 at 12 noon and run until 4 pm - rain or shine.
What?
Once again, the Museum offers numerous military displays and demonstrations, Celtic music, Highland and Irish dancing, outdoor games, and, of course, birthday cake! We invite you to visit and experience this unique Canada Day event. Visitors can take part in creating home-front crafts with the Canadian Embroiderers Guild of Guelph and try out some historic toys. There will be lots of activities for the entire family! Starting off the afternoon, soloist Debbie Deckert will entertain with musical selections from the early 1900s and the First World War. Throughout the afternoon, enjoy saxophone and piano with Tim Moher and John Solberg and Highland and Irish dancing with students from the Mary Ellen Cann School of Highland Dance and Tir Na Nog Dance Academy.

Dominion Day

On the 1st of July, 1867, Canada became a self-governing colony within the British Empire. We offer you the chance to relive the past and discover the events surrounding the first Dominion Day (now Canada Day). Historical debates, patriotic speeches, cookies and lemonade and Vintage Base Ball are a few of the activities that will bring the past to life. Vintage Base Ball game between London Tecumsehs and Thames Centre Oldtimers at 1:00 pm.
